Everything has been going pretty well here. It is hard to believe that I am already two thirds of the way through the first semester. It is going by extremely fast. Water Polo wrapped up this weekend at the states tournament. We played for third place today however I was not able to go and this is where the story begins...
This weekend my regiment was scheduled to have our semi annual training day. About a month or two ago the chain of command sent out an email asking who would not be able to attend and why. I looked at my schedule for water polo and saw that it was States so I sent in that I was going to be gone that weekend. Everything was fine and on Tuesday this week my trip section (which we need to leave with the team) was approved by the sergeant in charge of my company.
On Thursday during lunch formation I was pulled out by my tactical officer (who is the officer in charge of the company) and at this point my heart was racing. I was digging through the events that has preceded that week and was trying to think of what I could have possibly done to be getting in trouble. And he says to me in a nut shell that I can not go on my trip with the team this weekend because the regimental tactical officer (his boss) is making him get more people to attend the training. He said, "Look at it this way son, you are going to be practicing for this team this weekend. Welcome to the Army....."
I was upset to say the least, but it was out of my control. There was nothing I could do about it. And here inlies my first of countless "suck it up and drive on" moments in the army. If there is one thing that I have learned from this experience it is that everyone has a boss and sometimes you bite the bullet and do as they say. It is just as important to follow as it is to lead.
On a happier note, the leaves here are changing and it is absolutely beautiful. However the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer, and the temperature is beginning to get a little nippy! I find my self shivering a lot and word on the street is that this is not even the worst....YIKES! Lord help me when it starts snowing. But I guess I will just have to "suck it up and drive on". Welcome to the Army.....

Enjoyed reading your updates, Ben. You probably had as much fun training with your regiment, and you didn't have to get wet! haha!
