By request from a special friend of mine I was asked to talk about and describe my course material that I am taking, more specifically if I am taking any courses on military history. Also what books we are asked to read.
I don't actually have any military history courses right now. Most of the material that I am taking is general educational stuff (chem, math, English, western civilization for history, psychology). All the courses I am taking right now are what West Point calls "Core" courses, which are required courses for all cadets. Although I do know that there are some military strategy and history courses coming up next year and the years to follow.
We are not on any specific reading list right now but what really interests me about our textbook is that every single one is custom for West Point. It is cool to see how the authors can put a military spin on the material they produce.
However, update on military events happening:
West Point is changing the branching system for cadets. It is no longer going to be decided entirely on class rank. There is going to be an interview process and the background you have in that branch will also help. You are no longer picking the branch you want, the branch is picking you. I had to submit my preliminary choices and my top three were:
1. Aviation
2. Infantry
3. Armor
These are just the first initial preferences that I have but hopefully some day in the future I will be in the sky flying choppers.
I would love to keep answering any questions that anyone has. Please email me with questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability or even a topic about West Point that you would like me to blog about. I am more than happy to share my experiences and thank all those who take the time to read and join me on this experience!

Until next time....
Thanks for sharing, Ben.
